Solar Panel Cleaning for Schools

Play areas, walkways, and entrances need to be clean and safe.

The problem

What schools deal with

Parents look at the walkways and the play areas before they look at anything else. We clean around your calendar so nothing happens while children are on site.

The calendar runs this job, not us. Breaks, teacher workdays, and the weeks before the year starts are when this work belongs, and everything gets planned backwards from your schedule rather than forwards from ours.

How we help

Solar Panel Cleaning built for your property

The question we get asked most is whether you can just pressure wash them. You should not. A solar panel is glass bonded over a laminate with an anti-reflective coating and a perimeter seal, and pressure is the one thing that finds all three. We wash them with deionized water and soft brushes, at a pressure a garden hose would beat.

We clean from the ground with fed-pole systems wherever the roof pitch allows it. Nobody needs to walk on your array to wash it, and the fewer footsteps on a roof carrying panels, the better for the mounts and the flashing.

No harsh chemicals

Pure water and soft brushes only, so nothing degrades the coating.

Ground-based where possible

Fed poles reach most residential arrays, so we keep weight and footsteps off the roof.

Longer panel life

Clearing buildup helps the array last.

No pressure on the glass

We wash with soft brushes and low-pressure fed poles. Nothing that can drive water past a seal.

Pricing

What it costs

We quote the array, not the hour. What moves it is how we have to reach the panels and how much has built up since the last clean. An array on a yearly schedule is quicker every time than one that gets done every few years.

Questions

Solar Cleaning for Schools, answered

Can you power wash solar panels yourself with a hose?
A rinse with a garden hose will move loose dust and will not damage anything. What it will not do is remove the bonded pollen film or the mineral spotting, and tap water dries to leave more spots than it removed. That is the gap deionized water closes.
Does cleaning solar panels actually improve output?
Yes, and the size of the gain depends on how dirty they were. A light dust film costs you a few percent. A full pollen coat or bird fouling over cells costs considerably more, because shading part of a panel affects the whole string.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We are licensed, fully insured, and NC HUB-certified. We will send documentation before the job if you want it.
What time of year should I book?
Any month works, but the two busy stretches are after spring pollen drops and after the leaves finish falling. Book a few weeks ahead of those and you get the day you want.
